Protaras originally catered to the overspill of tourists from Ayia Napa. It is most well-known for the pristine Fig Tree Bay, a secluded bay with very shallow turquoise waters and sugary powder white sand. On the way to Protaras, you will pass by Cape Greco, a national park of spectacular cliffs, well worth stopping for a quick photo. The area is ideal for walking, hiking and cycling too.

Protaras is home to an acquarium, a night laser show, a selection of tourist shops, hotels, hotel apartments, restaurants, and bars. In high season, a nightclub is also open.
