About Macronissos
On the outskirts of Ayia Napa, lies Macronissos Beach, a shallow, sheltered cove where crystal blue
water laps at sugary white sand, protected from wind and virtually without underlying currents. Not
yet exploited by commercialism, tranquil enough to enjoy peace, quiet and unfolding natural flora,
yet close enough to the eclectic and busy nightlife offered in Ayia Napa, Macronissos offers
travellers to its shores, the best of both worlds.
Macronissos has long been a favourite for locals wanting to enjoy untapped history and nature: the
Tombs of Macronissos make for a lovely day trip with their large unassuming shapes; the vast red
terrain, rich in minerals, a haven for exploring, and the Blue Flag beach, alluring. Nearby, is the
Waterworld Waterpark, the largest themed waterpark in Europe which promises to offer a fun-filled
day with both exciting rides and slides as well as the chance to drift round the lazy river as many
times as you like!
There is a local bus service which travels along the main road into Ayia Napa regularly and
frequently, however taxis are easily hailed should you prefer not to wait. Alternatively, hire cars
are preferred for many who would like the flexibility of choice.
